II am excited to be partnering with Knowledge Source Institute again this semester. We had a lovely time last semester with educators from across the world as we explored elements of our pedagogy that we can incorporate to best serve our multilingual learners in the classroom. I look forward to bringing this conversation to a new group of teachers. Interested in joining the conversation? Register today at Knowledge Source Institute.

Join me in March for the Inquiry Educator's Summit. where I will be facilitating a session called, "Let's give em' something to talk about - Fostering discourse in classrooms with multilingual learners." "Since the dawn of language, conversations have been powerful teachers." This quote by Jeff Zwiers, highlights the idea that whomever is doing the talking is doing the learning. Designing for student discourse in the classroom is a keystone to fostering critical thinking, acquiring a new language, sparking creativity, understanding different perspectives, and developing an empathetic learning community. Designing for discourse is also a radical resistance to what Paulo Freire describes as the "banking method" of education. Join me in this Middle Years strategy session to consider the "multilingual ecological conditions" for student discourse. Unpack the elements of student discourse, with special attention to multilingual students and discover key strategies for equitable discourse. This 45-minute strategy session will be followed by an optional 15-minute peer-driven reflection huddle, for All Access Pass holders to reflect and share learnings. |
